The shadow embodies a tiger symbolizing Korea and the South Korean map. It expresses the world of freely crossing over the Korean Peninsula beyond the division of territory, represents the regionality and historicity of Paju, and symbolizes the hope for reunification. A long time ago, the “Korean tiger” was an object of fear and worship, and concurrently, a miraculous existence that repels disasters and pestilence by fending off bad energy. The tiger that has transcended time and space conveys the meaning and value of human-nature coexistence through the delightful imagination of becoming our guardian once again.

한국을 상징하는 호랑이와 우리나라 지도를 형상화한 그림자는 분단을 넘어 자유롭게 한반도를 넘나드는 세상에 대한 희망을 담아 파주의 지역성과 역사성을 전달한다.

또한 오래전 ‘한국범’은 두려움의 대상이면서 숭배의 대상으로 나쁜 기운을 막아 재앙과 역병을 물리치는 영험한 존재였다.

시공간을 넘어온 호랑이가 다시 한번 우리의 수호자가 되는 상상으로 구상한 작품이며 인간과 자연의 공존에 대한 의미와 가치를 상징한다.
